sluggem snai baitSluggem snail bait pellets (L84) with 30g/kg Metaldehyde and 20g/kg Carbaryl as active ingredients has over many years proven its effectiveness against snails and slugs in the field. Sluggem snail bait is formulated with carbaryl, partly to increase the spectrum of pests controlled to include soil and debris-dwelling insects.

The smaller pellet size of Sluggem, Slugger and Sluggit snail bait pellets cover a greater area and are most reliable when temperatures are warm, or following rain when snails and slugs are active. Placing snail bait repeatedly in the same areas maximises control because snails tend to return to food source sites. Available in 500g, 2kg and 25kg units.

Precautions to keep in mind when using Sluggem

Sluggem Pellets contain Metaldehyde and Carbaryl which; if ingested, is toxic to pets and humans. However, by following the precautions below it is completely safe to use as a control for slugs and snails:

  1. Always follow the directions as it appears on the label.
  2. Store the product secured and safely out of reach of children and animals.
  3. Keep pets out of the area where the pellets are applied until the pellets are no longer visible.
  4. Do not heap pellets when applying to the ground.
  5. Adhere to the recommended dosage rate.
  6. When applying to leafy greens (e.g. lettuce) apply in such a manner that the pellets do not end up trapped amongst the leaves.
  7. For veggies growing below ground, wash them thoroughly before use.
  8. For a more focused approach try to find the spots where slugs and snails hide during the day. They prefer moist and darker areas in the garden. Find these hiding places and concentrate your pellet application around these spots.
  9. Always wash your hands after application.
